Meetings are held on the 4th Sunday of each month

Early in THIS century as STATA reorganized and began to develop long term plans for its members, the idea of local “Den” Meetings arose. The geographically local group would gather quarterly on the fourth Sunday of the month when STATA was not meeting as a full group. There were several reasons why this idea was appealing to our membership. The local “Den” Meetings could provide a venue to confidentially discuss cases, provide peer support and counsel, explore ethical issues which surface across diverse practice modes, and learn new art therapy approaches useful to art therapists in working with varied client populations. The San Antonio “Den” routinely invites practitioners from across the psychotherapeutic disciplines who have an interest in art therapy and our meetings often include young people, undergraduates in related fields and anyone else who is looking for a way to enter the art therapy field and wants to meet and query working art therapists about their training and practice. The cross pollination of therapeutic disciplines has often been useful as we consider the comprehensiveness of client care. From time to time we have a guest presenter. We are meeting in our homes, at our work sites and occasionally at spots locally which appeal to us or to our presenter that day. Perhaps most important of all the “Dens” regularly provide an easy going setting to get to know art therapists living nearby and to experience collegial support from those who feel to be truly of our “tribe” with our way of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating client treatment. Anytime you would like to join us, you can contact Maripat Munley, this year’s “Den Mother” at mpmunley@satx.rr.com or (210) 479-9208.
